Cookies and local storage
In short: this website sets at most two first-party cookies – one for the self-hosted audience measurement (only with your consent), one for your chosen appearance. Both come from this server, none from third parties. There is no advertising and no profiling.
What is not used
- No third-party cookies. Every cookie comes from this website itself.
- No advertising or marketing cookies. No profiles, no cross-site recognition, no fingerprinting.
- No third-party content. No external fonts, no embedded video, no maps, no social buttons, no content delivery networks. Fonts and images are served from this server.
- No consent banner. Where nothing is stored and nothing third-party is loaded, there is nothing to consent to.
What is stored locally
Two cookies and one entry in local storage – all from this website itself, none from third parties:

umami.session– belongs to the audience measurement. Contains a random string that groups one visit and expires with that visit. It serves to count page views, not to recognise you across other websites. Details are in the privacy policy, section 2. -
barth-theme– your appearance choice (light or dark), in your browser's local storage. It is only created when you use the switch in the header. - Your language is part of the address you open
(
/en/…) – nothing is stored for this.
Neither the cookie nor the appearance choice contains your name, your address or any identifier that could identify you as a person. Your IP address is not stored. You can delete everything at any time by clearing the site data in your browser.
The consent panel
On your first visit a panel appears at the bottom with two identically styled
buttons: Agree and Decline. Without your consent
the tracking script is not loaded, no request reaches the measurement endpoint,
and the cookie umami.session is not set.
The legal basis is your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and section 25(1)
TDDDG. Your choice is stored locally in your browser (key
barth-statistik) and is not transmitted; it only prevents the panel
from appearing on every visit. To change it, clear your browser's site data – the
panel will ask again.
If your browser sends the "Do Not Track" signal, no panel appears and nothing is counted. We honour that signal; it takes precedence over an earlier consent.
Neither value leaves your device, neither is transmitted to us, neither is evaluated. You can remove them at any time by clearing site data in your browser.
Server logs
When you open the site, the server processes technically necessary data (shortened IP address, time, requested file, transferred volume, browser identifier). The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. This is neither a cookie nor analytics. Details are in the privacy policy.
Contact form and email
The contact form sets no cookies. The details you enter are transmitted by email only and are not stored in a database. To protect against automated submissions the service uses an invisible field, a timing check and a per-IP limit – without cookies and without any third-party service.
If that changes
Should cookies or third-party services be added later, this page will say so in advance and, where required, consent will be obtained before anything is stored or loaded.
